Genuine love is at the core of the Christian faith. Firstly it is God's love for the world so clearly demonstrated in the sacrifice of Jesus, and secondly it is the call for love to be the motivation in all our relationships.

The scripture in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 and verses 4-7 is well known and explains beautifully how we are to relate to others.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
