Join The Chiltern Society on the chalk slope at Whiteleaf Cross to get involved in some chalk grassland restoration!

Learn about the importance of managing chalk grassland by getting involved in the clearance of scrub material (small bushes) on the chalky slope of this iconic Chilterns spot. Enjoy the stunning views while getting physical and meeting new people. All your hard work will help to reduce soil enrichment and shading on the grassland, benefiting special chalk grassland flowers and the animals associated with them.

Please dress appropriately for working outside.

Tools, PPE and training will be provided on the day – no previous experience necessary!

Please bring any refreshments for the day.

Parking

There is parking at Whiteleaf Cross car park on Peters Lane.

About

The landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Chiltern Hills has been shaped by its underlying chalk bedrock – formed millions of years ago, but still having an impact today. Our Chilterns Chalk Festival celebrates this connection to our landscape, both ancient and modern. Find out more.
