A Waterside Arts + Ecology project along a Chilterns chalk stream and the River Thames uniting artists and communities. Weaving tales of history, folklore and preservation in celebration of the delicate dance between humanity and the flowing waters of the world.

Additional information

Please note the route is subject to land approval and venue involvement and will always follow a public footpath. The trail can be journeyed in both directions but for this explanation we will start inland.

We begin in Hambleden village, where participants follow the trail along Hambleden’s (not always present) chalk stream through two fields. Onto the road towards the river, pass the Mill and over Hambleden Lock. Once on the South side of the River Thames the trail will follow the three mile stretch into the town of Henley ending at the River & Rowing Museum.

The River & Rowing Museum will be an indoor exhibition and weekend workshop venue. The curators studio next to Mill End Carpark will be open doors and host a series of events. We are also in talks with additional venues.

Carparks, toilets and refreshments are accessible in Hambleden and Henley-On-Thames.

The Beautiful Blue is a free experience however some of the workshops and events will be ticketed to cover facilitator costs.

We are looking for funding partners to help support this project. If you are aware of an individual or organisation with interest in supporting The Beautiful Blue, please do contact us for more information.
