Ravensburgh
Ravensburgh Castle Hillfort is located c. 10km west of Hitchin and 1.2km south-west of Hexton village, on the borders of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
The Castle occupies the western half of a plateau surrounded by on all sides except the east and north-west corner by deep steep-sided dry valleys. It is a large hillfort occupying almost 6.5ha (exclusive of fortifications), the largest in eastern England and the Chilterns.
The whole site was planted with trees c. 1908, before this time, the site was Chiltern chalk downland. There is no public access onto the site.
