The Chilterns National Landscape is a nationally protected area <\/span>with<\/span> the same protections in planning law and policy as those afforded to National Parks<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Chilterns National Landscape a special place; its distinctive character and natural beauty are so precious that it is in the nation\u2019s interest to safeguard them. The Chilterns National Landscape is a nationally protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) <\/span>with<\/span> the same protections in planning law and policy as those afforded to National Parks. The planning system shapes new development, making sure it is positive for people, the economy and the environment, and protects areas of importance for heritage, culture and nature, including our National Landscapes and their special qualities<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The planning system also allows local people to have a vision for their local patch by\u00a0building a Neighbourhood Plan<\/a> – a process that allows whole communities to get involved in enhancing, protecting and developing their area.<\/p>\n
