{"id":245,"date":"2024-03-18T13:44:29","date_gmt":"2024-03-18T13:44:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chilterns.org.uk\/neighbourhoodplanning\/?page_id=245"},"modified":"2024-07-09T12:04:48","modified_gmt":"2024-07-09T11:04:48","slug":"building-a-plan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.chilterns.org.uk\/neighbourhoodplanning\/building-a-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Building a Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led planning framework that guides the future development, regeneration and conservation of an area<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Neighbourhood Plans were introduced in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/localism-act-2011-overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Localism Act 2011<\/a> (subsequently amended) to allow local communities the power to help guide future development within their parishes, town councils or defined neighbourhood areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The following statement from <a href=\"https:\/\/locality.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Locality&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/neighbourhoodplanning.org\/toolkits-and-guidance\/create-neighbourhood-plan-step-by-step-roadmap-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Neighbourhood Plans Roadmap Guide<\/em> (2012)<\/a> explains what Neighbourhood Plans aim to do (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/neighbourhoodplanning.org\/toolkits-and-guidance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toolkits and Guidance<\/a> on their <a href=\"https:\/\/neighbourhoodplanning.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neighbourhood Planning website<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u2018<em>A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led planning framework for guiding the future development, regeneration and\/or conservation of an area. It may contain a vision, aims, planning policies, proposals for improving the area or providing new facilities, or allocation of key sites for specific kinds of development. It may deal with a wide range of social, economic, and environmental issues (such as housing, employment, heritage and transport) or it may focus on one or two issues only. These may be issues that are relevant to the whole neighbourhood or just to part of the neighbourhood.\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Chilterns National Landscape supports communities who want to make a difference in the area in which they live and work. Neighbourhood Plans are one of the tools with which communities can influence local planning, so we have created this toolkit to guide people through the process. Neighbourhood Plans are produced by individual communities, often through the Parish Council or a specifically set up forum.
