What is Web Accessibility?<\/h3>\n

Web accessibility is the practice of making website content available to all users, particularly those with disabilities. It includes making a website as accessible as possible regardless of browsing technology, such as for people with text-only browsers and old browser versions. Compliance with web accessibility is an on-going process which we are regularly working to improve.<\/p>\n

Text size<\/h4>\n

The website has been written to allow you to easily change the text size to make it either larger or smaller via your browser settings. Some browsers will allow you to magnify the whole page. To change the text size, follow the instructions below:<\/p>\n

Internet Explorer<\/h4>\n

  1. Click \u201cView\u201d to open the View menu or press \u201cAlt\u201d and \u201cV\u201d<\/li>\n
  2. Select the \u201cText Size\u201d option or select by pressing \u201cX\u201d<\/li>\n
  3. Choose your preferred text size using your mouse or use the up and down arrow keys<\/li>\n
  4. Click to select the text size or press \u201cEnter\u201d<\/li>\n
  5. The text size should change to reflect your choice<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Firefox<\/h4>\n

    1. Click \u201cView\u201d to open the View menu<\/li>\n
    2. Select the \u201cText Size\u201d option<\/li>\n
    3. Select \u201cIncrease\u201d or \u201cDecrease\u201d<\/li>\n

      Safari<\/h4>\n

      1. Click \u201cView\u201d to open the View menu<\/li>\n
      2. Click on \u201cMake Text Bigger\u201d or \u201cMake Text Smaller\u201d or to use the keyboard shortcuts select<\/li>\n
      3. \u201cApple\u201d and \u201c+\u201d (plus) or \u201cApple\u201d and \u201c-\u201d (minus)<\/li>\n
      4. The text size on our site should change to reflect your choice<\/li>\n
      5. If your mouse has a scrolling wheel in the middle of the right and left click buttons, you can hold down the \u201cCtrl\u201d key on the keyboard and scroll it up and down, the text size will increase and decrease. This works in both Internet Explorer and Firefox.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Accessibility in Windows<\/h4>\n

        Windows also has a number of computer settings you can select to improve your enjoyment of our website. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Accessibility Options. You can select options to alter your keyboard, display and mouse settings. If you are using Windows 7 then, Go to Start > Control Panel > Ease of Access. Here you can make changes to optimise the way windows displays our website.<\/p>\n

        Code<\/h4>\n

        The Chilterns AONB website has been developed using best practice coding conventions \u2013 making our\u00a0code simpler, more readable, and easier to maintain.<\/p>\n

        The code for some third party services available on this website is generated on other websites and is automatically inserted into web pages on this site. We have no control over the quality of code provided by third party sites.<\/p>\n

        JavaScript<\/h4>\n

        Where JavaScript is used, we have provided a working alternative for visitors who have JavaScript turned off. For example, our Interactive Map requires JavaScript to function but all Attractions indicated on the Map can also be accessed by browsing the Attraction Category menu or by using the Attraction Search facility.<\/p>\n

        PDF Accessibility<\/h4>\n

        If you are having trouble reading a PDF document on this website \u00a0Adobe offers a free online tool for converting PDF documents to HTML or text. To use the tool you will need to know the web address of the document you want to convert. This can be found in the browser address bar at the top of the page and begins with http:\/\/ .<\/p>\n
