This is a circular walk, starting at the historic Bridgewater Monument in Ashridge, with views down Monument Drive and Princes Riding towards Ashridge House. Going downhill from the Monument we will walk in circle around the edge of Aldbury, taking in Aldbury Nowers and a section of the Ridgeway.

We will be climbing hills with wide views across the local countryside. There will be fields and woods. We will be walking on the chalk and some short sections are quite steep so if you normally use a stick, you may wish to bring it on the day.

Additional information

We will stop for a morning break and lunch break so please bring food and drink. There are toilets and a cafe at the monument where we start and end the walk.

Marion Adams. West Herts Ramblers, West Herts Ramblers is part of the Ramblers - a national organisation which exists to promote walking and to preserve and improve the footpath network. We are a friendly group with members based mostly, but not exclusively, in the Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and St Albans Area. We are keen to encourage new members to join us and to spread the word on the benefits of walking. We have at least one walk every Sunday and one on most Tuesdays. Our walks range from 3 to 15 miles with most being between 5 and 10 miles. We walk in the beautiful countryside of Herts, Beds and Bucks with occasional forays further afield including London. There is also a programme of social events including pub meals, a coach walk and two short breaks away each year. Marion is the Chair of West Herts Ramblers which covers a lovely area of Hertfordshire and includes parts of the Chilterns. I am a keen walker in the UK, Europe and further afield. I have a love of the Chilterns and in particular of Ashridge where I am a conservation volunteer. I also volunteer as the Parish Footpath Surveyor for Aldbury.
