Come on a short stroll through old Amersham, visiting the churchyard and then a meadow that is being restored at Amersham Band (with the help of Wild Amersham). Learn lots about the wildflowers and plants you see on your way from a local volunteer who is passionate about wildflowers.
This walk is short and gentle and starts inside the Memorial Gardens and ends back there allowing you to explore Amersham’s lovely historic architecture and enjoy its shops and cafes.
Additional information
Given that the meadow is slightly bumpy, we recommend that you wear sturdy shoes or trainers.
Accessibility info: The initial part of the walk is accessible, but the meadow at the Band can only be accessed across a bump and the meadow itself has narrow, bumpy paths.
Marieke Bosman. Wild Amersham, Wild Amersham @ Sustainable Amersham encourages people to appreciate, protect and restore local nature. We do this through organising nature events (such as this walk), by monitoring local biodiversity through citizen science, and by helping three local organisations restore nature on part of their land. Income from events is used for further nature work.. Marieke is a volunteer with Wild Amersham. She worked for many years supporting social development in the Arab world. Over the past six years she has been involved in a range of nature organisations in the Chilterns and helped set up Wild Amersham. She is passionate about wildflowers in particular.
