Come on a short but lovely wander through old Amersham to the small but delightful wildflower meadow restored by St Mary’s School. You will learn more about chalk wildflower meadows and get introduced to quite a few of the wildflower species that grow in them.

This is a short and easy circular walk starting at and returning to the Memorial Gardens in Old Amersham, allowing you to enjoy its historic architecture and cafes and shops there before you go home.

Additional information

As some of the path may be uneven or muddy, we recommend you wear sturdy shoes that can get muddy.

Accessibility info: The access to the School Meadow requires negotiating a bump on an uneven path, and the meadow itself is uneven in places, so the walk is probably not suitable for wheelchairs but may be OK for buggies.

Marieke Bosman. Wild Amersham, Wild Amersham @ Sustainable Amersham encourages people to appreciate, protect and restore local nature. We do this through organising nature events (such as this walk), by monitoring local biodiversity through citizen science, and by helping three local organisations restore nature on part of their land. Income from events is used for further nature work.. Marieke is a volunteer with Wild Amersham. She worked for many years supporting social development in the Arab world. Over the past six years she has been involved in a range of nature organisations in the Chilterns and helped set up Wild Amersham. She is passionate about wildflowers in particular.
We will meet at the WWII memorial in the Memorial Gardens on the Broadway in Old Amersham. There is parking in Old Amersham car park, or along the High Street.
