Join us for a challenging 16-mile traverse of the Chilterns between the historic riverside market towns of Wallingford and Henley. We hike along 3 long distance trails – the Ridgeway National Trail, the Chiltern Way, and the Oxfordshire Way – and there is plenty of interest along the way, including Grimms Ditch, the ruined church of St James, and Henley Park.
It’s a hilly one with four significant hills and a total route ascent of 1,350 ft (412 m). This is a linear walk and there is a regular bus service (Oxford Bus/Thames Travel Route 33) between our start and finish towns.
Additional information
Please dress appropriately for a walk in the countryside and having regard to the British weather! Walking boots/shoes advised. Paths may be rough, muddy and steep in part. Trekking/Nordic walking poles are ideal for this walk – we will be using ours! A small rucksack is useful for personal items such as water, food, spare clothing, etc. We will take a short break at the Makerspace café (Nuffield – 6 miles) and a picnic break (bring your own). Cafes and toilets available in Wallingford and Henley.
