Navigation in poor visibility conditions such as fog and mist or darkness can be challenging as we can only see features a short distance away and features on the map become harder to discern on the ground. It can also be unsettling if you are not prepared.

This ‘day into night’ navigation workshop take place around Maidensgrove Common. It will introduce you to techniques (such as compass work and pacing) and strategies to give you confidence to navigate in poor visibility conditions. Some map reading and navigation experience is desirable. Part of the workshop takes place after the sun has gone down – don’t forget to bring a good headtorch!
Booking via Pipsticks Walks website – use code KVAQW3L to receive the Chilterns Walking Festival special rate.
