Join Ann Danks from the Stanley Spencer Gallery and our very own walks leader, Andrew Clark, for a highly recommended guided walk around beautiful Cookham where you’ll enjoy a morning through the eyes of Stanley Spencer – a local artist who become well known for depicting biblical scenes as if in Cookham itself, where he was born and spent most of his life.
The walk will start from the Stanley Spencer Gallery and visit the places that provided inspiration for many of his paintings. Ann is the Gallery’s archivist and an authority on the life and works of one of the 20th century’s most important British painters. It’s an easy stile-free 4 mile walk along pavements and country paths. One modest climb and a number of gates.
The walk should finish at about 12.30pm and you can visit the Gallery if you wish, or come back another time. Your entrance to the Gallery can be used anytime up to 20th July.
