Prestwood and Denner Hill: full route
The walk starts at the Prestwood Local Nature Reserve and Picnic Site and climbs the hill to walk above
Bryant’s Bottom, with views of the valleys on each side. It then descends Denner Hill and climbs up towards Prestwood, to return through Nanfan Wood to the start point.

The steps you need to take
Route
From the Prestwood Local Nature Reserve and Picnic Site, turn left along the road. After 55 metres, and before Perks Lane on the left, take the footpath on the right to climb the hill along the left-hand edge of a field.
Waypoint 1
Climb the stile at the top of the hill and follow the path ahead alongside a fence on the left. Cross a stile to emerge onto a driveway.
Waypoint 2
Turn right along the driveway, take the left hand fork, following the footpath sign, and follow the driveway around a right-hand bent to continue on the footpath. At the end of the driveway, continue ahead on a path through woodland. When the woods end, continue ahead on a track, which becomes a lane.
Waypoint 3
Where the lane turns right downhill, go through the gate and take the middle grassy track, passing pheasant pens on your right. At the end of the field continue ahead to cross a stile into woodland. Follow the path steeply downhill to a road.
Waypoint 4
Turn right along the road. After 250m, turn left opposite Rolls Hill to take the footpath up the hill. Go through the gate into the wood and follow the path straight across the corner of the wood to emerge into a field.
Waypoint 5
Turn right and follow the path along the side of the wood to the top of the hill and then down the other side.
Waypoint 6
At the bottom of the hill turn right into the wood and take the left hand, lower path along the edge of the wood. Continue along this path to emerge onto a track.
Waypoint 7
Turn right along the track, go through the gate to the road and turn left to return to the start (taking care along this busy lane).

Prestwood Local Nature Reserve
In late 2013 the management of the reserve was taken over by the Chiltern Society. Even though the site is just 4.8 acres, it is abundant with wildlife including an incredible diversity of flora. In recognition of this and its value to the local community for recreation and study, the site was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 1993. From April to the end of summer the floral highlights include cowslips, pyramidal, common spotted and bee orchids and Chiltern Gentians (the county flower of Bucks).
