Discover the Chilterns
A handy visitor guide to help you plan your trip, discover, explore, and enjoy the most accessible countryside sites and attractions in the stunning Chilterns National Landscape.
We believe everyone should be able to explore and enjoy the Chilterns.
Across the region, there are stile-free, easy-access routes and surfaced trails suitable for wheelchair and pushchair users. Many larger countryside sites feature visitor centres and cafes with accessible facilities. Some also offer the hire of all-terrain mobility vehicles (Trampers), giving you the freedom to explore the countryside.
Accessibility isn’t just about mobility – it’s about creating inclusive spaces for all. For instance, Burnham Beeches Sensory Trail invites you to touch, listen to, and sit on its sculptures. Lindengate Charity’s open garden provides a peaceful space for reflection and wellbeing courses, while the Chiltern Open Air Museum provides sensory backpacks and ear defenders for neurodiverse visitors.
So, whether you’re a family looking for a day out that suits young and old, you don’t want to travel far for a relaxing spell in nature, or you’re looking for outdoor opportunities for all abilities, there’s something in the Chilterns for you.
