Hear the ring of steel and feel the impact of battle at Clash of Steel, a high-energy living history event at Chiltern Open Air Museum.

Witness armoured warriors face off in dramatic combat displays, showcasing historical fighting techniques, weapons and armour from the medieval period. Watch as skilled re-enactors demonstrate the realities of close-quarter combat, revealing how strength, skill, strategy and pageantry determined survival on the battlefield.

Between clashes, meet the fighters up close, explore the equipment they used, and learn how armour and weapons evolved to meet the demands of war. Set within the museum’s historic buildings and open-air landscape, this immersive event offers an exciting day out for families, history enthusiasts and anyone fascinated by medieval warfare.

With 45 acres at your disposal, there is plenty to explore, including woodlands and an exciting adventure playground

Dogs on short leads are welcome but must not go inside residential buildings

Light lunches, drinks, cakes and snacks are available to purchase from our Skippings Barn

Mobility scooters are available to borrow (subject to availability – pre-booking is advised)
