Date and Time: Sunday, 1 February, 2026.
10.15am meeting time to allow you to park and walk to the café area/visitor’s centre. The Estate opens at 10am. We will aim to finish between 12.30-1pm and this always depends on pauses, nature discussions and the size of the group etc.
Theme: Ashridge Estate – ancient trees, rolling chalk downlands and lush meadows in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Walk Reflection Points/Questions:
- How has being in nature helped us to feel better today?
- What does ‘outstanding natural beauty’ mean on a daily basis, and how can we make nature part of our daily routines?
- Share one special photo at the end of the walk with someone (optional) – why was this moment/picture so special?
Distance and level: Approx. 4 miles and we will do this at a moderate walking pace – no person is left behind.
Overview: We will meet you at the Ashridge National Trust Visitors’ Centre and be there from 10am (10am is the opening time, as per the website). The entrance to Monument Drive and the Estate Visitor Centre is off the B4506 between Berkhamsted and Dagnall. Use Sat Nav code: HP4 1LT
Led by: Professor Clare Warren with Geeta and Subash (Dadima’s leaders)
Parking: Free and plentiful along Monument Drive, particularly if you arrive for 10am. Pay parking is also located closer to the café, and this is free if you have a National Trust pass.
Toilet facilities: At the Visitors’ Centre/café.
Food and drink: Available at the café. Please bring water, warm drinks and snacks to keep you going as needed. Monument Café serves hot and cold drinks, hot food, sandwiches, light bites and cakes if you wish to visit after the walk. I will bring some masala Indian tea and light snacks to share.
