Join us for an immersive family walk with homemade cake and speciality tea and coffee on your return. Treat the family to a walk in the woods – the perfect activity for kids and adults alike. Head off into the woods that inspired so many of the stories with your storytelling guide, Michael.

You’ll explore the woods that inspired Roald Dahl’s last book for children, Billy and the Minpins. Explore the scenery in winter, look for the Minpins in the trees and listen to extracts from the story — one of Roald Dahl’s most magical.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t in magic will never find it.”

Afterward you’ll head back to the Museum to warm up with refreshments that include your choice of homemade cake and a speciality tea, coffee or Rumsey’s hot chocolate.

Walks are at 11.30am and 2pm and last about 50 to 60 minutes. For age 6 and over. £10 per person plus Museum entry.

Food and drink
You choice of refreshments will come from The Filling-Station at the Museum. Our hot drinks and cakes are all from specially selected local producers. You can find out more on our Filling-Station page.

Walk route
The walk leads you out of the Museum along pavements past the old, characterful buildings of Great Missenden. We walk up to Angling Spring Wood and along paths that might be muddy. There is a steep section in the wood. Please bring appropriate sturdy footwear.

Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
