Chesham Moor: temporary footbridge closure and path diversion

Chesham Moor: temporary footbridge closure and path diversion

The footbridge at the junction of Bois Moor Road and Moor Road will be closed from Monday, 25 November to Wednesday, 4 December.

As part of the habitat improvement works at Chesham Moor, the existing concrete footbridge is being replaced and the footpath will be temporarily closed.

An alternative route is being advised, shown in Figure 1 below, which should add only two to three minutes to most journeys. To minimise disruption to pedestrians, the closure will avoid the weekend.

The bridge is being replaced as it is beyond its useful life, does not conform to current access requirements and safety standards, and as contractors are already working on site, it is more cost effective to replace the bridge now. The bridge is being wholly funded using a grant from Defra’s Access Fund.

If you wish to know more about the works or have any questions, please see Chilterns Chalk Streams Project: Chesham Moor.
