An update on our management plan

The Chilterns National Landscape is grateful to everyone who submitted responses to the recent public consultation on proposed changes to our management plan.

The comments received, both constructive and critical, were most welcome. The team has been analysing the submissions and drafting further amendments to the plan. However, we need a little more time to do the feedback justice, so instead of approving the revised plan at the Board meeting on 27 March, it will now be brought to the next meeting on 19 June.

This extra time means we can discuss proposed changes in more detail with our key stakeholders. It also means the plan will better reflect other developments, like the emerging Nature Recovery Plan for the Chilterns, the government’s Protected Landscapes Targets and Outcomes Framework, and the latest legal changes, including the new duty on relevant authorities – like local council and water companies – to “further the purpose of conserving and enhancing” the National Landscape.

In the mean time, the current management plan will continue to be the strategic policy for the Chilterns National Landscape and provide the context to our work with partners in promoting the conservation, enhancement, understanding and enjoyment of the area’s special qualities and outstanding natural beauty.
