New toolkit empowers communities to conserve and enhance the Chilterns National Landscape
Neighbourhood Planning gives communities power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.
This month we published an online Neighbourhood Planning Toolkit, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund through the Chalk, Cherries and Chairs Landscape Partnership.
Our Neighbourhood Planning Toolkit helps communities take action to conserve and enhance their local area within the Chilterns National Landscape through the Neighbourhood Planning process. It explains the special qualities of the Chilterns and why it is important to protect, conserve and enhance them.
The toolkit aims to direct you to resources that explain the processes involved in Neighbourhood Planning. It will help you to decide if a Neighbourhood Plan is suitable for you, what topics could be included, and how the content could relate to the Chilterns National Landscape.
While the Chalk, Cherries and Chairs partnership is focused on the central Chilterns, in Buckinghamshire and South Oxfordshire, the toolkit is designed to apply to the whole Chilterns area, including outside of the National Landscape, wherever communities are interested in conserving cherished landscape features.
We hope to continue to develop and enhance the toolkit going forward and would be interested in feedback and examples that could be included as case studies. Please contact: planning@chilterns.org.uk.
