New treescapes guidance hub

New treescapes guidance hub

A new online resource for growing, planting, managing and monitoring trees and wooded areas in National Landscapes is now available.

Last year, the Chilterns National Landscape collaborated with the University of Reading on the Future Treescapes in National Landscapes project – which explored the knowledge requirements of National Landscapes in relation to trees and woodlands.

The project aims to help guide decisions on how to increase and improve protections for trees and wooded areas to benefit climate, nature and people.

The guidance hub, hosted by The Tree Council, brings together information and practical resources to help anyone growing, planting or managing trees and treescapes, and to support getting the right type of tree in the right place to maintain a National Landscape’s character.

From resources for schools and children to specialist information on agroforestry, the guidance hub has something to suit everyone.

Chilterns Boundary Review

Unfortunately, Natural England has now confirmed the cancellation of the Chilterns Boundary Review project due to national budget cuts. This decision brings the project to a close, and no further work will be undertaken at this time. However, we will continue to work closely with Natural England, and will be urging Ministers to identify the funding needed to complete this important work in the future.
