Would you like to help assess the current state of the River Chess, learn more about the river or help with practical conservation? Do you have pressing questions about the health of the River Chess that you would like to see answered?
The Chilterns Chalk Streams project is looking for volunteers to help with citizen science activities, monitoring the health of this precious Chilterns chalk stream as part of the River Chess Smarter Water Catchment Initiative.
If so please contact us at chessCS@chilterns.org.uk to discuss how you can get involved. We have lots of activities planned for 2022. No previous experience neccessary – just enthusiasm!
Types of activity you could be involved in include:
- Surveying the river habitat.
- Spotting sediment inputs in the river.
- Practical River Restoration.
- Monitoring insect numbers and diversity.
- Measuring water quality.
- Measuring river flows.
- Helping control invasive species.
