Date and time: Sunday 26 September, 2026. 10am arrival. Finish 12.30-1pm.

We will meet at 10am promptly, outside Wendover Woods Café, which is right next to the main toilets. Note: the café opens at 8.30am in case you fancy a quick breakfast and coffee there beforehand for the early risers.

Theme: Komorebi is a Japanese word capturing the joy of dappled sunlight through leaves and small glimmers of light or hope, which we can always find if we look closely enough.

Place: Wendover Woods | Forestry England.
Wendover Woods is one of many forests throughout the UK which is managed by Forestry England. It really is a beautiful, family-friendly woodland.

Address:
Wendover Woods Cafe
Wendover Woods
St Leonards Road
Wendover
HP22 5NF.

Access and other information:
The toilet and café facilities are very good. I suggest you aim to arrive for 9.45am-to park-up in time and walk over to the café (all well-signposted). The toilet facilities are located at the rear of the Wendover Woods Cafe and include an accessible toilet which also features baby changing unit facilities.

Carparking fees: Wendover Woods | Forestry England
You have to drive up a long lane to arrive at the carpark starting point, and it has APNR car number plate recognition upon entry at the automated barriers. You pay at the machine before exiting to your car, by credit card – fees listed on the weblink.

Walking information:
We will walk the ‘Firecrest Trail’ which is approximately 4.5-5km. This trail is generally flattish with mostly surfaced tracks. There are some parts which are uneven with tree roots, so do wear sensible flat walking shoes/trainers. The inclines are moderate and we always take our time walking at a moderate pace, pausing to notice and reflect.

Dogs:
Dog-friendly – see website for details and there are signs around the entry area.

Suitable for: Families who can engage in a moderately paced walk. A beautiful Autumnal walk for families.

Booking Details:
Please RSVP to Geeta via text message to book a place ASAP so that we can plan numbers. The walk is free and Dadima’s CIC will make a donation to the wildlife centre.
