Castle Grove Camp
The original entrance of Castle Grove Camp is thought to be on the SW side, and the defences on the SE side have been ‘mutilated’ by a later medieval boundary.
The northern defences are heavily masked by rhododendron and difficult to follow, but encompass a pond which is spring fed. The site is extensively truncated by small gravel workings.
On the 1840 Tithe Map and Award the fort is referred to as Castle Grove, and is a Beech wood, owned by David Gale Arnott. There is no public access onto the site.
