The Management Plan for the Chilterns National Landscape
Caring for the Chilterns forever and for everyone.
A shared plan for conserving and enhancing the Chilterns National Landscape from 2025 to 2030.
The Management Plan sets out a shared vision for the future of the Chilterns National Landscape and the actions needed to care for this nationally important landscape over the next five years. It provides a framework for organisations, communities, landowners and individuals to work together to conserve and enhance the Chilterns for future generations.
About the Management Plan
All national landscapes are required to publish a Management Plan and promote its implementation through partnership working.
The plan guides the work of local authorities, government agencies, landowners, businesses, community groups and residents, helping to coordinate action across the Chilterns National Landscape.
In the Chilterns, the Management Plan is prepared by the Chilterns Conservation Board on behalf of, and in partnership with, local authorities, communities and other organisations with an interest in the landscape.
The current plan (2025-2030)
Chilterns National Landscape: An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan 2025 – 2030.
Adopted by the Chilterns Conservation Board in June 2025, the plan identifies the key opportunities and challenges facing the Chilterns and sets out the policies and actions needed to conserve and enhance its natural beauty, wildlife, heritage and communities.
The plan was reviewed and updated from the previous 2019–2024 Management Plan, which was extended to 2025 by order of the Secretary of State.
