ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

Zoo located at Whipsnade, near Dunstable in Bedfordshire. The Zoo is home to 4,000 animals and 280 species

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is one of Europe’s largest wildlife conservation parks. Set in 600 acres of beautiful parkland on top of the Chiltern Hills, north of London, the Zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild. The Zoo, like ZSL London Zoo, is run by the Zoological Society of London, a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. There are tigers, elephants, hippos and giraffes in huge outdoor enclosures. There is also a Lions of the Serengeti attraction, cheeky chimpanzees, rhinos and Asian elephants. You can go in with the lemurs and see these stunning primates as they go about their business on their island, or meet a giraffe face-to-face. Hop on and off the free Safari Bus, or experience the Jumbo Express train for an exciting adventure. There are daily live talks, demonstrations and feeds, beautiful picnic areas and stunning views over the Vale of Aylesbury. You can even spend the night in the Zoo, in one of a small number of individual lodges next to the rhino enclosure.
