Chilterns management plan consultation now open

We are currently reviewing our management plan, and the consultation on proposed changes is now live.

You can access the consultation documents and survey using the link below.

All National Landscapes are required to prepare a management plan which formulates their policy for the management of the landscape and their functions in relation to it.

We welcome your views on the changes we have proposed and on any further changes you think need to be made, either now or in the future.

The consultation will run until midday on Monday, 3 February 2025.

Chilterns Management Plan

The Management Plan sets out the policies and actions to be followed by all stakeholders to conserve and enhance this special place. The new Management Plan was approved in June 2025 and runs to the end of March 2030.

Chilterns Boundary Review

Unfortunately, Natural England has now confirmed the cancellation of the Chilterns Boundary Review project due to national budget cuts. This decision brings the project to a close, and no further work will be undertaken at this time. However, we will continue to work closely with Natural England, and will be urging Ministers to identify the funding needed to complete this important work in the future.
